Step-by-Step

You will be prompted for authentication for the following USask services:

  • MyProfile
  • PAWS
  • Office 365
  • IAM
  • AboutUS
  • Vault
  • SharePoint Online

  • Canvas
  • Zoom
  • VPN

Microsoft Authenticator Number Matching

On May 8, 2023, Microsoft will by deploying Number Matching as a key security upgrade to Microsoft Authenticator. 

Previously users would deny or approve the sign-in request via the Authenticator message. 

Going forward, when users respond to an Authenticator message they will be presented with a number. That number will need to be entered to complete the approval. 


  1. Log in to one of the USask services enabled with MFA, noted above.

  2. After logging in, you will receive a Multi-factor Verification message.


  3. This verification process will send a push notification to your smartphone.


  4. Click on the Authenticator message on your phone to be brought to the app.

  5. Tap Approve on the 'Approve sign-in?' message.


    As of May 8:

  6. Once your login has been approved on your smartphone, the verification process is completed. You will be redirected to the MFA enabled application or page you were accessing.

  1. Log in to one of the USask services enabled with MFA, noted above.

  2. After logging in, you will receive a Multi-factor Verification message with space to enter a verification code.


  3. This verification process will send a text to your phone with a verification code.

  4. Enter the code you received and click Verify.

  5. The verification process is completed. You will be redirected to the MFA enabled application or page you were accessing.

You may use a landline or cell phone for the phone call authentication method.

For your security, please do not add your USask 306-966-XXXX office number as Cisco Jabber can be accessed with only your NSID and password from anywhere in the world.

  1. Log in to one of the USask services enabled with MFA, noted above.

  2. After logging in, you will receive a phone call to the number you previously listed when setting up the authentication method.

  3. The phone call will prompt you to press the pound (#) key to verify.

  4. The verification process is completed. You will be redirected to the MFA enabled application or page you were accessing.
