Cause

Prior to 2018 it was possible to create a personal Microsoft account with your USask e-mail address. This can cause issues when signing in as you may not always be prompted to choose which account you'd prefer to use.

The conflict can be resolved by changing the e-mail address on the personal Microsoft account to a non-USask address.

Note
If you have no need for the account it can be deleted instead, however it is recommended to change the e-mail address first as account deletions take 30 days to complete.

Log out of the personal Microsoft account on all devices prior to renaming the account and changing the primary login. If you are logging into a Windows PC with your personal Microsoft account, you must switch your account to a local account temporarily. The steps do to switch to a local account can be found on Microsoft's website.

From a web browser, log into your personal Microsoft account via https://account.microsoft.com

Using a private browsing window will ensure that you are not accidentally signed in to your work or school account automatically.
Click Your info along the top banner of the page.
In the Account Info section, click Edit account info.
Under Account aliases, click the Add email
Either create a new e-mail address or choose an existing non-USask e-mail.
You should now see the new e-mail address listed under Account aliases.
Ensure you are logged out of the personal Microsoft account everywhere except your current web browser (see warning above).
Click on Make Primary beside the new account that you created/linked.
As soon as the primary is no longer the '@usask.ca' account, click Remove beside the USask e-mail.
Tip
It may take a couple hours for the changes to take effect.
