Installation instructions

  1. Download the Anaconda installer for Windows 10

  2.  Select an installation type. Install for "just me" unless you're installing for all users.

  3. Select an destination folder for Anaconda, and click next.

  4.  Choose whether to add Anaconda to your PATH environment.

It is not recommended that Anaconda is added to the PATH environment variable, as it can interfere with other software. Instead, use Anaconda software by opening Anaconda Navigator or the Anaconda Prompt from the Start Menu.

  5. Choose whether to register Anaconda as the default Python. Leave this box checked unless you plan on installing and running multiple versions of Anaconda or Python.

  6. Click the install button.

Verifying Installation

Correct installation of Anaconda can be verified with either Anaconda Navigator or conda.

Anaconda Navigator

Anaconda Navigator is a graphical user interface that is automatically installed with Anaconda. The Navigator will open if the installation was successful. In Windows, click search or select Anaconda Navigator from the Start Menu (image below).

If Navigator does not open, Anaconda did not install correctly. Refer here for troubleshooting tips.

conda is a command line interface (CLI) and package manager used in Anaconda. To verify the installation using conda, search or select Anaconda Prompt in the Start Menu (image below).

To verify correct installation, enter the command python. This command runs the python shell, and if Anaconda is installed and working correctly, the version information displayed when Python starts will include "Anaconda".
