Use Stata on your Windows computer:

1. Open the network drive \\stata\stata17 or \\stata\stata18.

   For opening the drive, type one of the paths above into your file browser. Alternatively, you can mount the network drive by right-clicking on "Network" in your file browser and entering the required path in the "Folder" field of the pop-up window. If the drive does not mount, you may need to provide a username in the form abc123@USASK, where abc123 represents your NSID, in order to log in.

2. Right click on the file StataSE-64.exe and select the Copy link.
   
   
   
3. Right click on the desktop and select the Paste shortcut link.
   
   
   
4. Right click on the icon, select Properties and set the Start in field to a directory on your local machine.
   
   
   
5. Click on the shortcut icon to start Stata.

To use Stata on a Macintosh computer, you must also mount the network drive:

1. smb://stata/stata17 or smb://stata/stata18
   
   
2. Next, make an alias for the file "StataSE" in the folder "Mac/Stata" of the mounted device.
   
   
3. Click on that alias to run the program.

If you do not have a 64-bit operating system installed on your computer, you may still access this software through the remote access lab.
